Beloved: 10,000
Beloved:10,000 is a living memorial, a memorial to children whose lives were simply wiped out in the Holocaust. Each of them was a real child, loved by parents and grandparents. They laughed and cried, and giggled and played. Each of them had gifts to offer to the world. Those who killed them believed they were worthless, no more significant than a piece of lint. Everything in me rebels at this notion, and so I draw, and I remember. Eventually there will be 150 portraits in this collection, each one representing 10,000 children who died – in total memorializing the one and a half million children murdered during the Holocaust. May we never forget.
